• Eula Valdez gives love another chance

PLUS: Ai-Ai’s movie ‘Area’ gets an A-rating

Award-winning actress Eula Valdez revealed that she and her model-cum-actor boyfriend Rocky Salumbides have parted ways for a month now.

She admitted this to a few members of media at the launch of the new GMA Network “Afternoon Prime” offering Hahamakin Lahat, where she co-stars with Snooky Serna and Ariel Rivera, together with young loveteam Joyce Ching and Kristoffer Martin.

Eula said never in her wildest dreams did she imagine that she and her partner of eight years break up, as they never had any major conflicts. That’s why when Eula felt something was not right she took the initiative to iron things out. She was the one who sought out her partner for a talk.

She even consulted her kids and heard their thoughts about her relationship with Rocky. Should she fight for their love? And her kids said yes. So, for the love of Rocky, Eula decided they deserve another chance at love.

So is love indeed lovelier the second time around? “Most definitely,” the Gawad Urian best actress awardee for Dagitab declared.

Indie filmmaker Louie Ignacio is probably still on cloud nine after hearing the good news that Area – his latest project produced by BG Productons featuring Ai-Ai delas Alas and Allen Dizon – got an A-rating from the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB).

The movie had a successful premiere screening at the QCinema International Film Festival where it was also chosen as the closing film.

The audience were unanimous in praising Area for its aesthetic value and excellent ensemble acting.

Area is one of Ignacio’s best movies, and can also be counted as one of the most well-made films in the industry as of late. It zooms in on the lives of aging prostitutes still plying the trade.

“I believe I was able to tell the other side of the story of these women. I showed a different facet of their personality,” said the director, who was likewise ecstatic over the Special Jury Prize at Area received from the Eurasia Film Festival in Kazakhstan two weeks ago.

While Ai-Ai may have lost the best actress plum at the said international festival, Direk Louie is optimistic that Lady Luck will smile at the well-loved actress soon enough when Area goes around the world in competition.
