• Evangelist supports Duterte 2016 bid

DAVAO CITY: International televangelist Apollo Quiboloy vowed to throw his all-out support for Mayor Rodrigo Duterte if he decides to join the presidential race in 2016.

Quiboloy assured Duterte of his support and expressed confidence on the mayor’s capability to run the country.

“If he will declare, why not?” said Quiboloy, the leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, the Name Above Every Name. “I saw his leadership and the way he is running Davao City is effective, something that he can be applied to the whole of the Philippines.”

Quiboloy has over 6 million followers, more than 4 million of them spread across the Philippines. The churches under his group can be found in many parts of the United States and Asia, but the biggest is found in Davao City.

Duterte and Quiboloy are known to be friends.

The pastor admitted he was trying to convince Duterte to consider the presidency. Duterte, on the other hand, has consistently denied he is interested to run in 2016.

“Yes, I am talking to him. I am trying to urge him [to run for president],” he added.

Quiboloy said 17 years ago, he had a dream about Duterte.

“He fetched me from Davao City and took me by plane to Manila to invite me to play golf with him,” Quiboloy narrated. “I was ushered to [the]Malacanang grounds to play golf. In my dream, the mayor was the president.”

The latest Social Weather Stations survey showed Duterte moving up to third place from the bottom of the list of presidential bets, just behind Vice President Jejomar Binay and Sen. Grace Poe.

    1. Quiboloy? No offense but isn’t he… uhmmm. Oh well… In my opinion, I don’t think Duterte is ready for the presidency this 2016. We don’t need his kind of leadership and his vision of federalism for the country. Let’s really think about him for the pres position.

    2. You need not believe me but an informant told me that a private pollster came up with a survey result which tells that Duterte’s rating has gone up to 29%, 4$ more that the minimum for Duterte to decide to run as President. The poll was commissioned by a group for them whether to decide to support Duterte or not. As what I have said earlier, you do not have to believe me but the result as far as I am concerned is logical in the sense that Binay is on the defensive against graft and corruption and PNoy’s fight against graft has been damaged with the resignation of Sevilla and the negative findings of COA on some departments led by allies of te Poe he President. It seems that the situation calls for a strong willed President and Duterte fits the need to a T while Grace Poe for lacking experience somehow does not really fit. My opinion.

    3. I am from Cebu and as I went around our place asking people to support Mayor Digong in case he decides to run for President in the 2016 Presidential Election, the usual answer I received was that: “you don’t need to ask, I and my family, relatives and friends are supporting Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte. We want him to be our country’s president…. and if it is possible…. we want him to be the President of the Philippines forever!”
