Ex-Chief Justice Narvasa passes away


The Supreme Court on Thursday confirmed that former Chief Justice Andres R. Narvasa has passed away. He was 84.

According to his son Atty. Ogie Narvasa, his father died at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

Narvasa was the 19th Chief Justice of the Republic. He served from Dec. 1, 1991 up to Nov. 30, 1998.

He was part of the Agrava Fact-Finding Board that investigated into the assassination of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino, Jr.

Narvasa first saw the light on Nov. 30, 1928.

He finished his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Philippines as magna cum laude in 1951. He placed no. 2 in the Bar Examinations. PNA
