Ex-Chief Justice Renato Corona, 67


Former Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona died Friday due to cardiac arrest. He was 67.

Corona was rushed to the Medical City Hospital at 1:48 a. m., his family said.

His wake will be at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City Public viewing will start on Saturday.

Corona was the country’s 23rd Chief Justice. He was appointed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on April 9, 2002 as Associate Justice. He became chief justice on May 12, 2010.

He was the first Chief Justice to be impeached for jot declaring all of his assets in his statement of assets liabilities and liabilities.

He is survived by his wife Cristina, and children Charina, Carla and Francis. JOMAR CANLAS
