• Ex-French captain probed over Rwanda genocide


    PARIS: Paris prosecutors have launched an investigation the role in the 1994 Rwanda genocide of Paul Barril, a former French captain suspected of striking a $3.13 million (2.4 million euros) arms deal with the interim government at the height of the killings. An estimated 800,000 people, mostly minority Tutsis, were killed in the April to July 1994 genocide by ethnic majority Hutus.
