• Ex-Gov’s arraignment deferred anew

The Sandiganbayan’s Fifth Division reset to January 18, 2016 the arraignment of former Iloilo Governor Niel Tupas Sr., for a graft charge following an ex-parte motion of his lawyers citing the official’s medical condition. Tupas is presently confined at the Intensive Care Unit of the Philippine Heart Center, based on a medical record presented to the graft court. This is the second time the arraignment was postponed, the first on October 21 and again on November 12, on the same reason. Tupas, along with three others, were charged in connection with payment of the province’s unconsumed electricity bills totaling P4.007 million to Green Core Geothermal.
