Ex-Ifugao Mayor Lumauig passes away


BENEDICT “Dick” LUMAUIG, former mayor of Alfonso Lista, Ifugao, passed away on August 26 after a long battle with cancer in Colonia, New Jersey, USA. He was 57.

He also served a deputy administrator of the National Tobacco Administration and executive director of the Office for Northern Cultural Communities under the Office of the President.

Lumauig completed his studies at the University of the Philippines Integrated School, Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati, University of the East, and the Philippine Law School. As a resident of New Jersey, he was an active member of the Music Ministry of the Holy Family Parish in Woodbridge, New Jersey, the Ilocano Association, and the Ifugao Association of the North East.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lilian Bulayungan of Kiangan, Ifugao, and his Children: Ryan Albert, Liza Margarette, Lalaine Anne, Karl Joseph, Kevin Mark, and Lia Marie, and grand children: Gio, Camille, and Joaquin Alfredo.

Benedict, born on July 29, 1957, is the son of former Ifugao Governor and Congressman Gualberto B. Lumauig and Felicisima Balajo-Dait, a brother to Aloysius, Cicero, Doris (+), Emma, Frances, and Gina.

Services will be held at the Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Homes in Rahway, New Jersey on August 28, and the funeral mass service at Divine Mercy Church on August 29 at 10 a.m.. Online Obituary may be viewed at www.lehrergibilisco.com.

His remains will be flown to Manila thereafter. His body will lie in state at the Loyola Memorial Park Chapel in Marikina from September 6 until the burial at Loyola Memorial Park Cemetery on September 10.
