• Ex-Pasay mayor wants review of conviction

Former Pasay Mayor Wenceslao Trinidad has asked the Sandiganbayan’s First Division to review its decision convicting him of graft in connection with the bidding and award of a project for the construction of Pasay City Mall and Public Market in 2004.

Trinidad argued that the court erred when it held that all the elements of a violation of Section 3(e) of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act was present in the case.
It was added that the Ombudsman took cognizance of the case in 2007, which led to the filing of charges in 2011.

Last November, the anti-graft court sentenced Trinidad and former City Councilor Jose Antonio Roxas to six up to 10 years in prison and perpetually disqualified them from public office after it found them guilty as charged.
