Former Solicitor General Francisco “Frank” Chavez died of stroke on Wednesday night. He was 66.
His remains were cremated on Thursday at about 2:00 a.m.
His wife Jean Chavez confirmed on Thursday that he suffered stroke at about 10 p.m. on Wednesday and he was confined at The Medical City in Pasig City when he passed away.
According to television reports, his remains will be brought to Sanctuario de San Antonio Parish in Forbes Park and then burial will be at the Heritage Park in Taguig on Sunday.
Chavez was personally selected by then-president Corazon Cojuangco Aquino to head the Office of Solicitor General in 1986 which was then investigating former president Ferdinand Marcos and his cronies.
At the end of his government service, he became a private lawyer wherein he handled high-profile cases such as the plunder charges against former president and now Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of the 2nd District of Pampanga province.
The latest case he handled was the custody case of Kris Aquino for her son with basketball player James Yap. PNA
