Three men, including a former vice mayor, were killed and two others were wounded in a shootout between two groups Friday in Abra, police said Saturday.
Killed were Dante Guzman, former vice-mayor of Dolores, Abra, his brother PO3 Dindo Guzman and a certain Jun Cabanawan.
Police said the groups of Guzman and of Christian Cortez trade fire in Sitio Balneg, Barangay Poblacion, Dolores.
Guzman and his companions reportedly had an angry confrontation with Cortez’s group over a dice game at a wake in Balneg.
The argument continued in the street, climaxing in a shootout between the two groups.
The de Guzmans and Cabanawan, who belonged to Cortez’s group, being wounded and were declared dead on arrival at Abra Provincial Hospital.
Guzman’s two companions, Ceasar Zapata and Christopher Tordil, were also wounded and treated to the same hospital.
Cortez surrendered to police on Saturday afternoon. A member of Cortez’s group, Jeffrey Borgonia, is being sought by police. ANTHONY VARGAS
