• Explosives seized in Compostela Valley

ZAMBOANGA CITY: Police seized improvised explosives and munitions in two separate houses in Compostela Valley. Officials said two men—Allan Montecalvo and Jona Aricos —were being sought in connection with the illegal explosives and assorted ammunition and gun parts seized from their houses in Maco town before midnight on on Friday. Seven kilos of explosive devices, blasting caps and detonating wires were seized from their houses, including anti-government propaganda by the communist rebel group New People’s Army. It was not immediately known whether the two men are members of the NPA or not, but the rebel group has been fighting for decades now for the establishment of a separate communist state in the country.
