WORLD-renowned motorcyclist Charley Boorman recently rode the streets of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, as the city became one of his pit stops in Freedom Riders Asia—a six- part travel series Boorman hosts that will air on Star Sports. The show features man and motorcycle on the move for fun, freedom and performance.

Boorman’s ride through Puerto Princesa will be shown on May 25.

Sponsored by Shell Advance lubricants, the series has Boorman venturing the roads of Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines to get immersed in their respective motorcycle cultures.

“Freedom Riders Asia is the perfect show that celebrates and connects bikers in Asia, while offering travel and adventure experience to a wider audience,” said Shell Advance Brand Manager Emi Arboleda. “We believe that Boorman and the show embody what we offer to all of our customers—the enjoyment of every ride and allowing them to experience freedom through effortless and hassle-free mobility on the road.”

In the Philippine leg of Freedom Riders Asia, Boorman, together with some top Filipino motorcyclists, rode across the unspoiled scenery of Palawan with one tank of gasoline on his Honda XR200. Boorman also rode three other bikes during his trip – a motorcross, an underbone and a tricycle.

“Bikes have always been my passion and I’ve always been interested with Asia’s diversity. What’s great in doing the show is that it gave me the opportunity to mix my passion for biking and to experience the warmth and beauty of Asia and its people,” said Boorman.

Boorman had spent his first day in Puerto Princesa searching for his road buddy in a local garage. There he was introduced to an underbone bike. His stay in Puerto Princesa also allowed him to watch and to mingle with the participants of the 450cc Veterans Race category of FIM Asia Motocross/Supercross Challenge.

On May 15, a week before its Philippine airing, Freedom Riders Asia will have its exclusive premier in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with Boorman leading the event.

Toyota Motor Phils. (TMP) employees participated in the 2013 Sikad-Lakad-Takbo Para sa Kalikasan (Cycle-Walk-Run for the Environment) that was held at Greenfield City in Santa Rosa City, Laguna. The event is a collaboration between the government of Santa Rosa and the Save the Silang-Santa Rosa River Foundation Inc. to generate funds for the protection and rehabilitation of waterways that go through the cities of Santa Rosa, Biñan, Cabuyao and Silang in Cavite. Committed to its strong advocacy for the environment, TMP has been supporting this event since it began in 2009. Toyota also embarks on its own environmental initiatives that include the propagation of seedlings in its own tree nursery for donation to government and private institutions. On a larger scale, Toyota also supports the Philippine Peñablanca Sustainable Reforestation Project in Peñablanca, Cagayan, and recently started a partnership with the University of the Philippines Los Baños for the Toyota Adopt-a-Forest Project inside the Makiling Botanic Gardens.
