F2 Logistics guns for its first title in the league when it battles Foton in Game 2 of the 2016 Philippine Superliga (PSL) All-Filipino Conference women’s volleyball tournament best-of-three championship series today at The Arena in San Juan City.
The game is at 2:30 p.m. with the Cargo Movers looking to sweep the Tornadoes following their thrilling 25-20, 25-14, 9-25, 20-25, 15-10 victory in Game 1 on Thursday.
Veterans Aby Marano, Cha Cruz, Mika Reyes and Ara Galang will be leading the frontline of the Cargo Movers along with University Athletic Association of the Philippines Best Setter Kim Fajardo.
Defensive gem Dawn Macandili will also play major role with her superb court coverage. She scored 25 digs and 12 receptions in the series opener.
“We still lack hard work. We still have to be more matured and learn how to close out a tough game like this. I expect it to be tough. And Foton is a strong team. It will surely be back for Game 2,” stressed F2 Logistics mentor Ramil De Jesus.
Foton, the 2015 Grand Prix champion, will rely on middle blocker Jaja Santiago and power-hitting open spiker Cherry Ann Rondina, who combined for 41 points in Game 1.
“The team was so eager and excited to win. We have to hold our game together and control the tempo if we want to win. We have to follow our pace every time the ball is on our side,” Foton coach Villet Ponce-de Leon.
Besides Santiago and Rondina, wing spiker EJ Laure and middle hitter Maika Ortiz must also contribute as well as libero Bia General, who just earned seven good receptions in their last game.
“We will take this one point at a time, one set at a time, one game at a time. We’re given the opportunity, we’re given the time, so we might as well use that to our advantage. This is not yet over,” added Ponce-de Leon.
