• Facebook opens page for disaster response

Facebook has activated Safety Check, a disaster response page for Super Typhoon Ruby.

Safety Check “is a simple and easy way to say you’re safe and check on others,” according to a Facebook spokesperson.

Safety Check is a way to help people get in touch with friends and family during a disaster to know they are safe, a statement from the Facebook spokesperson said.

The Facebook Disaster Response Page is https://www.facebook.com/DisasterRelief

“We know that in times of crisis, people turn to Facebook to learn about what’s happening, share their experiences and offer support. Our thoughts are with the families and communities in the Philippines as they take action and deal with Typhoon Ruby. Facebook has activated Safety Check and we hope people find it a helpful way to share that they’re safe and to check on friends and family,” the spokesperson said.
