Fairs & More Inc. (FMI), a subsidiary of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP), is making a push for European brand cars to gain more headway in the country.
From March 11 to 13, FMI will be staging an event that will showcase European cars from the most luxurious to the budget friendly during the three-day First European Motorshow at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.
FMI president Gerry Constantino said there is a growing awareness and acceptance among Filipinos on the advantages of owning a European made car.
“Although cars on the road are still predominantly Japanese, Filipinos are now increasingly looking at European cars and the technology built in them,” he said.
Last year, data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. showed that Japanese brands took 77 percent of the new cars sold.
According to Constantino, the motor show, a first of its kind in the country, will provide Filipinos with an opportunity to see up close the European cars and even experience driving them.
Among the car brands that will be on display will include MAN, Maserati, Mercedes Benz, Mini Cooper, Morris Garage, Morgan, Peugeot, Scania Trucks, Volkswagen, Volvo, and Vespa.
“Aside from the cars, we will also be showcasing European brand merchandise including automotive parts for a wide variety of vehicles and hardware tools that will fit into a wide range of budget,” Constantino added.
FMI assists companies in their participation in trade fairs in the country, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
The ECCP with the European Union-Philippines Business Network and the Belgian, British, French, German, Italian, Nordic, and Spanish business chambers are all jointly participating in the event.
