TWO individuals posing as employees the Bureau of Customs (BoC) offering positions in the bureau for a fee were arrested in an entrapment by joint operatives of the Customs Police Rapid Intervention Group (CPRIG) and the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG). In a report submitted to Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon, CPRIG chief Maj. Jaybe Raul Cometa identified the suspects as Cecelia Lucentales, 62, and Roliveth Cortes, 52, both of Pasay City. They were arrested based on a complaint of Fedrico Santos, who said the suspect offered him a position of as Customs district collector in exchange for P50,000. The suspects were reportedly charging each applicant from P50,000 to P100,000 in exchange for work at the BoC once a certain “Victorino” assumes office as Customs commissioner. The suspects will be charged with estafa and usurpation of authority. “Do not believe offers like these because if the bureau has a job opening, we disclose it to the public and there’s no money involved,” Cometa said.
