CHARGES of sexual assault and resisting arrest were filed Wednesday against a fake doctor at the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
Police said Jose Norlito de Luna Fruto was charged with sexual assault at the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
De Luna was arrested by policemen on June 16 based on a complaint lodged by a young male.
Records showed that Fruto was charged with sexual assault under Article 266-A of the Revised Penal Code, which incorporates expanded provisions on rape and similar offenses under Republic Act 8535, or commonly known as the expanded rape law.
An additional charge of resisting arrest was filed against de Luna.
Fruto had been previously arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for pretending to be a doctor. Also arrested was his assistant, James Irvin Tarampi.
The two were arrested in 2013 during an entrapment operation at his clinic in Caloocan City.
Elena Roque Pascual, a heart patient, had complained to the NBI that de Luna misrepresented himself as a heart specialist.
If convicted of sexual assault, de Luna faces 20 to 40 years in prison.
