Combined elements of the Bureau of Customs and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency intercepted P65 million worth of fake cigarettes and other smuggled goods in Davao City recently. The hot goods were recovered in different warehouses in the villages of Uyanguren, Santa Aba and Obrero. Intelligence reports had said fake cigarettes and other illegal stuff were being sneaked into the city through the Port of Davao. Out of the eight warehouses, six were found to have contraband stuffed in 2,542 boxes–cigarette brands Mighty, More and Two Moons–as well as Baoma mosquito killer products and whitening lotions. Customs Inspector Jonel Pogoy said the goods allegedly belong to a Taiwanese identified as Shi Yue Qun and Benedict Rene Tan.
