LINGAYEN, Pangasinan: A 61-year old woman claiming to be a lawyer and providing notarial services but is not a member of the Bar was arrested in an entrapment operation conducted by police operatives at Maramba Bolulevard in Barangay Libsong West on Friday afternoon. Pangasinan Police Provincial Director, Senior Supt. Ronald Oliver-Lee identified the suspect as Ermina Salazar-Bautista, a former law firm secretary and resident of Barangay Pugaro in Dagupan City. Lee said the suspect was arrested by police operatives led by Supt. Fidel Junio, chief of police in Lingayen, in the act of receiving P100 marked money inside her office at about 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Junio told The Manila Times the operation against the suspect was initiated in response to a complaint by retired assistant Dagupan City prosecutor Vicente Orap who claimed that his law firm is being used by Bautista without his consent. Bautista denied the allegations claiming her operations were legitimate and authorized by Orap, but she did not present documents showing she is a lawyer and an employee of the complainant.
