SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union: A man who claimed that he is a police major assigned to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) was arrested in an entrapment operation in Barangay Pagdalagan Norte Friday. City Police Director Julius Suriben identified the alleged narcotics officer as Federico Gaspar, 57, a resident of Barangay Parian. Gaspar, allegedly used a fake police identification to extort from drug pushers. Suriben added that Gaspar is considered a high-value target in the city. Also arrested during the operation was his girlfriend identified as Nicole Ubungen. Before the entrapment Gaspar, Senior Insp. Jeofrey Sanchez, chief of the city anti-illegal drug special operation group, said that they went through a records and verification procedure with the higher PNP offices to determine if the suspect is really a member of the PDEA. Seized from their possession are sachets of shabu, a motorcycle, buy-bust money and drug paraphernalia.
