CAVITE: A man pretending to be a priest was arrested by the Cavite Criminal Investigation Division Group (CIDG) on Saturday after officiating a mass in Barangay Palocpoc2, Mendez here. CIDG Police Chief Inspector Ricky Neron identified the suspect as Crisanto Bantigue, 40, who claimed to be a military presidential chaplain of Malacanang Palace. He also claimed to be a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) class of 1987 and graduated as valedictorian. He has held religious rites in various places like in Quezon City and Mandaluyong City. Bantigue is at the CIDG detention cell in Imus and will be charged with violation of Article 133 (offending religious feelings), Usurpation of Authority and illegal use uniforms and insignias.
