• Farmer finds wounded monkey eating eagle in N. Cotabato


    KIDAPAWAN CITY: A monkey eating Philippine eagle was rescued by a farmer in a remote village in North Cotabato and handed it over to environment officials, police here said on Friday. The wounded but recuperating eagle was found by farmer named Joven Amacin who turned over the big bird to the police, according to Sr. Insp. Reilan Mamon, Magpet police chief. Mamon quoted Amacin as saying that he found the eagle with pellet wounds from air gun in the village of Amabel, a mountain village near the country’s highest peak. He did not say when. He said Amacin could not say who shot the endangered bird.
