ILOILO CITY: The family of farmer Gerardo Tabaquirao Larbo of Barangay Mayang in Tubungan town is seeking justice for his death on July 18 at the hands of soldiers. Consolacion Larbo said she is bringing the case to the Commission on Human Rights, and the Mayang barangay council through kagawad Flordeliza Talidano will file a resolution saying the victim is a civilian and not a member of the New People’s Army (NPA). Consolacion said Gerardo, who was suffering from nervous breakdown, left the house to harvest some corn and pineapples. A military medical team saw his son carrying a bolo and shot him in the head. His body was found the next morning lying in a shallow canal along the road with a .12 gauge shotgun. The medical team headed by a certain Lt. Padua of the Philippine Army’s 82nd detachment came from Barangay Baga, Leon.
