For the first time, Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP) has teamed up the best in Philippine fashion to stage a memorable, one-night runway show.
Held on February 17 at the Manila Polo Club, the event was for the benefit of FCCP scholars who are pursuing courses in the performing and visual arts. In fact, two singers and a guitarist from the group were presented in the program.
The night had two parts. The first part featured the stunning creations of young Filipino masters like Albert Andrada, Cary Santiago, Jun Escario, Oskar Peralta, Eddie Baddeo, Frankie de Leon, Jackie Penalosa, Renee Salud, Arleen Sipat-Sutton, Boy Lizaso, Lito Perez, Philip Rodriguez and Fanny Serrano.
The second portion honored four highly acclaimed couturiers Aureo Alonzo, Ben Farrales, Pitoy Moreno and Patis Tesoro whose innovative artistry in fashion designing for several decades has done Philippine Couture truly proud not only nationally but also internationally. Only Patis is active and still continues to design. All the creations of the four legends were paraded by FCCP Models and Members.
The program opened with welcome remarks from Nonie Basillio, event chairman, who thanked the participating designers who generously lent their talents and resources for the success of the show. She also recognized her co-chairs Mila Imson and Rose Lazaro and the other committee members Cristina Galang Caedo, Mimi Valerio, Baby de Jesus and Sally Maliwanag.
She especially thanked the donors, sponsors and benefactors whose donations will enable the FCCP to sustain its scholarship program as well as pursue its objectives of promoting culture and enhancing culture appreciation among people.
Then Nene Pe Lim, FCCP president, gave her inspirational message emphasizing their worthy projects especially improving the lives of their scholars through better education.
It was such a beautiful show, which was well applauded by the guests.
I would like to congratulate the officers, board of directors and members of the FCCP. May your tribe increase. Bravo!
