FDA warns against use of eye drop

THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an advisory warning against the purchase and use of the unregistered eye drop product “Dok Apo Better Vision 15 ml” circulating in the market. The FDA said the eye drop product did not go through the registration process and has not been issued any authorization. It added the agency cannot guarantee its quality and safety since the product has not gone through evaluation and testing. The public is advised not to purchase the product and to be vigilant against drug products not duly registered with the FDA. Establishments are likewise warned not to distribute it until covered by appropriate authorization or face regulatory actions and sanctions. The product is marketed as being able to prevent or cure cataract, sore eyes, eye irritation, and retinitis and other eye diseases. The public may visit www.fda.gov.ph to check the registration numbers on the product labels.
