DOLORES, Quezon—Provincial authorities on Monday launched a search for a female mountaineer who went missing on Mt. Banahaw.
Dr. Henry Buzar, the Quezon Provincial Disaster Risk Reducation and Management Council chief, said he has sent a team to look for Nina Gacutan, who has been missing since Sunday.
Police said the 27-year-old call center agent and resident of Quiapo, Manila, went hiking in Mt. Banahaw Friday, May 23, together with Noel Ong and Artemio Lago, both residents of Las Pinas City.
The three were accompanied by a guide, identified as Roberto Viaro.
The police report did not say if Gacutan got separated from her group.
The Dolores Municipal Environment Office say the trekkers entered an area of Banahaw which has been declared off-limits to climbers since 2004 because of its deteriorating condition. TINA GANZON
