SOME 16,684 people underwent stress debriefing by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to enable them to recover from their experiences when typhoon Ferdie hit Batanes recently. DSWD-trained social workers on Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) conducted the stress debriefing and distributed food packs to each family of 4,595 families. The DSWD said all families have returned to fix their houses, except six families or 36 persons who remained in the evacuation center on Basco Island. It added that it was studying a request for livelihood under the cash-for-work (CFW) program. Under the CFW, beneficiaries are given work and compensation according to their capacity such as cleaning of debris, coastal clean-up, canal dredging and communal gardening.
