Ferragamo highlights modern physique

The Fall/Winter 2013 collection gives emphasis to fine lines to accentuate the curves of a woman, and the masculine build of a man

High-end Italian brand Salva-tore Ferragamo recently unveiled its Fall/Winter 2013 with an intimate show held at the Presidential suite of the Fairmont Hotel in Makati City.

Massimiliano Giornetti, the brand’s creative director for this collection, highlights the modern man and woman with designs that are both architectural and structural. This then give emphasis to fine lines that accentuate the curves of a woman, and the masculine build of a man. Giornetti used somber colors of navy, gray, white and black that blends well with the season.

“There is a lot of layering in this collection. There is a twist of merging both sexes and their style, a match of soft and hard designs that give off modern sophistication,” notes Gina Bonoan, the merchandising group manager that handles the brand locally.

The women’s collection features clean-cut dresses, giving off a sensual composure that the business-chic woman exudes. Origami, wrap-around skirts made of silk material are also prominent in this collection, making each piece feminine yet modern at the same time.

A set of coats, turtlenecks and knitted pieces were also included in the collection. The coats were multi-functional, with a lot of loose, layered pieces. The women’s shoes and bags were also of the same theme, expressing a “sophisticated linearity.” Color blocks of dark hues are prominent in this collection, with pointy shapes, thin heels and a combination of boots, sandals and pumps matching the clean cuts of each design.

The men’s collection follows the same modern and elegant theme, emphasizing on functionality as well as the “innate sense of style and independence of thought” of the Ferragamo man. High-collared coats are seen in this collection, perfect for the stylish jet-setting businessman.

“We wanted Filipinos to experience this year’s fall/winter collection of our brand. Each piece is well-made and hand-crafted, and we thought that Filipinos could appreciate the elegance yet hard work put into each piece,” says Ferragamo local merchandizing manager Dani Mendoza.

Ferragamo also presented skirts, dresses and bags for those who like the clean and simple designs that exude sophistication and elegance.

The Ferragamo Fall/Winter collection will be available in local retail stores in mid-September.
