• FEU nips UE for 2nd win


    FAR Eastern University (FEU) rebounded from its disappointing loss to defending champion Ateneo de Manila University with a 25-14, 25-13, 25-19 victory over University of the East (UE) in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 77 women’s volleyball on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan City.

    Bernadette Pons had two service aces to finish with 11 hits for the Lady Tamaraws, while Toni Basas and Jerilli Malabanan combined for 18 points as FEU improved to 2-1.

    Playing in a reserve role this time, FEU middle blocker Remy Palma still finished with eight points as coach Shaq Delos Santos is looking for the right combinations.

    “Binabalanse rin namin para kapag sa pagdating sa mabigat na laban, at least ready na sila,” said Delos Santos.

    Shaya Adorador paced the Lady Warriors with 13 hits, including two service aces, and four digs, while Leuseht Dawis added five points.

    In men’s play, Mark Alfafara and Romnick Rico combined for 29 hits as University of Santo Tomas (3-0) defeated University of the Philippines (1-2) 25-18, 25-11, 25-15, while Red Christensen and John Onia had 16 and 15 points, respectively, as La Salle (1-2) downed UE (0-3) 25-19, 25-19, 25-21.
