Gilas Pilipinas will face South Korea in the semifinal in the 27th FIBA-Asia Men’s Basketball
Championship Saturday after crushing Kazakhstan, 88-58, Friday.
Gary David showed his deadly firepower by hitting four triples of his total 22 points while Jason Castro had two for 13 points to lead the Filipinos’ onslaught that saw them leading by as much 17 points, 32-15, in the first quarter.

South Korea breezed past Qatar to arrange the knockout showdown with the Philippines.

“It’s good that we were able to execute our defensive plan very well. But in the end, it was really the crowd that helped us very well that also inspired the team  to play bigger and stronger,” said coach Gilas Pilipinas Chot Reyes.
“We have not done anything yet. And we are going to approach our game tomorrow with also a better plan. We don’t know yet our opponent. But hopefully, we can still find a way to win and reach the finals after a long long while,” he added.
Gabe Norwood and Ranidel de Ocampo also fired two triples each as they led a 51-40 advantage at the half. So fired-up were the Filipinos that they stretched the gap to 31 points, 82-51, halfway in the fourth quarter.
The nationals shot 13 triples out of 30 attempts and had 43 rebounds. Gilas Pilipinas also had 23 assists to only 13 for Kazakhstan and had three steals and seven
    blocks.
