    University of the Philippines (UP) remains unbeaten in the 14th season of Ang Liga after defeating University of Batangas (UB), 2-0, at the San Beda College Football Field, Manila on Sunday.

    The Fighting Maroons improved their record to four wins for a total of 12 points in the first division while the Brahmans suffered their fourth consecutive loss this season.

    Reigning University Athletic Association of the Philippines champions UP secured their victory through a late game surge in the final 20 minutes of the game with two consecutive conversions.

    UP and Azkals standout Daniel Gadia notched the initial goal of his club in the 73rd minute quickly followed by the goal of Rvin Resuma in the 76th minute.

    However, the men from Diliman were inflicted with a blow in the 77th minute as Gadia was handed his second caution of the game, which kept him out of the remaining minutes of the match.

    The Brahmans fought valiantly but were unlucky to concede two goals before the end of regulation.

    Meanwhile, San Beda Team B continued their winning run in the second division of the collegiate pre-season tournament with a 2-0 win against Don Bosco Technical College.

    Marco Cauyong scored a goal for the Bedans in the seventh minute while Mariano Suba secured their victory with a goal of his own in the 48th minute.

    Also, Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL) scored a 5-2 triumph against De La Salle Araneta University in their second tier meeting.

    John Balingit led MCL with two goals in the 31st and 50th minutes while John Arias, Carlo Cubio and Gerald Astorga contributed a goal each.

    Meanwhile, the first division match between National University and College of Saint Benilde ended in a scoreless draw.
