Filipino-American Treat Huey and British Dominic Inglot expect an uphill fight when they face the top-seed Americans Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan in the third round of the 2013 Wimbledon Championships men’s doubles being held in London.
Huey and Inglot were scheduled to play the Bryan brothers on Monday night.
The 16th seeds Huey and Inglot made it to the third round via a 6-3, 7-6 (2), 7-5, 7-6 (3) win over Germany’s Andre Begemann and Martin Emmricj.
The Bryan brothers scored an easy 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 victory against David Marrero of Spain and Andreas Seppi of Italy.
Huey and Inglot ousted Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut and Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the first round, 6-3, 6-4, 7-5.
For reaching the third round, Huey and Inglot are now assured of the whopping 20,000 Euros and additional ranking points for their Association of Tennis Professionals standings.
In mixed doubles, Huey and partner American Raquel Kops-Jones go up against Australians John Peers and Ashleigh Barty, a 6-7 (7), 6-3, 6-3 winner over Austrian Julian Knowles and Chinese Zhang Shuai in the first round.
Huey and Kops-Jones secured an opening-round bye because of their ninth seeding. EMIL C. NOGUERA
