The Philippine women’s national basketball team continued their impressive run in the 2015 FIBA Asia Women’s Championship in Wuhan, China by beating Hong Kong, 75-62, on Tuesday.
Perlas Pilipinas, who are playing in Group B together with North Korea, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, is now seeded no.3 in their group after three wins and one loss in the competition.
Perlas Pilipinas lost to Southeast Asian neighbors Malaysia during their first outing but went unbeaten in their next three games against North Korea, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong.
Despite a close fight in the opening quarter, the Philippines managed to recover in the second quarter posting a 42-28 lead at halftime.
Allana Lim powered the Philippines’ third straight win, finishing with 20 markers, six rebounds and four assists while fellow Far Eastern University standout Camille Sambile scored 19 points and 10 rebounds.
National University Lady Bulldog Afril Bernardino also made her presence felt in the hard court by posting 16 points, five boards and five steals.
The Pinay cagers are set to continue their campaign in the continental women’s basketball championship with a game against Group B’s second seed Kazakhstan at 9 a.m. today.
