Americans Michael Fagan and Kelly Kulick topped the event. Taking the silver medal were Canadians Lynne Gauther and Dan Maclelland, and Mexicans Alejandro Cruz and Sandra Gongora settled for the bronze.

Chua and del Rosario will be gunning for medals in the individual category beginning on Saturday.

Del Rosario will try to surpass her bronze-medal finish in the women’s singles of the 2009 edition held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Italy still leads with 17 golds, 13 silvers and 15 bronzes, followed by Russia (15-17-10), France (13-10-9), Germany (12-5-7), China (9-5-1), United States (9-2-4), Ukraine (8-10-8), Colombia (6-7-6), Great Britain (6-5-3), Japan (5-1-4), Brazil (3-3-1) and Belarus (3-1-3).
