The national tae kwon do poomsae [forms]team continued its remarkable showing in international competitions as it grabbed four golds and one silver, this time in the 2015 World Tae kwon do Hanmadang Poomsae Championship held in South Korea.
The Filipino jins successfully defended their women’s team division and team demonstration competition (composed of nine athletes) titles in the tournament participated by more than 4,000 jins from different parts of the world.
Southeast Asian Games veterans Jocel Ninobla, Rinna Babanto and Juvenile Crisostomo made a flawless routine to rule the women’s team event before conniving with Lee Robiegayle Navales, Moses Bullicer, Elisabella Cesista, Leanarda Nicole Landrito, Jeordan Dominguez and Janna Dominique Oliva in winning the team demonstration gold medal.
“We are back-to-back champions in these two events – women’s team division and the team demonstration competition. We won medals in all five events we participated in,” said poomsae mentor and world champion Jean Pierre Sabido.
Also earning gold medals were Isabella Cesista and Moses Bullicer (senior pair division) and Lee Robiegayle Navales and Patrick King Perez (junior pair division).
Navales and Perez were named Most Valuable Players in the junior division.
Jeordan Dominguez contributed one silver from the all around breaking category.
“According to the organizing committee, this years Hanmadang was the most number of participant, up to 4,000 participants this year,” added Sabido.
Recently, the team won one gold, two silvers and two bronzes in the 2015 Chuncheon Korea Open International Tae kwon do Championships held in Chuncheon City.
