Filipino mason slain in Malaysia

A Filipino was killed and another was seriously injured while an Indonesian was slightly hurt when attacked by a group of men in Jalan Lim Chee Hian, Brighton, on Tuesday, the Malaysian Bernama news agency reported.

The fatality was identified as Bajau Sail Mohd, in his 20s, who died before he could be treated at the Miri Hospital.

Miri Police chief ACP Gan Tian Kee said the second victim known as Ben, 26, was treated at the same hospital with injuries to his stomach, left calf and an almost severed toe on his left foot.

”Another victim, Indonesian Saptari, 23, was slightly hurt on the hand and chest.

We are investigating the motive of the attack,” the policeman said on Wednesday.

He said the victims, who were working as masons, were resting in a room when attacked.

“They were sleeping when the lights went off. A group of men suddenly attacked them. They could not see how many people attacked them or how they looked like as it was very dark,” Gan said.
