Filipino-Americans Brandon “The Truth” Vera and Ana “The Hurricane” Julaton have reached peak form three nights before the One Fighting Championship’s Warrior’s Way on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Vera, 37, said on Tuesday’s media open workout at the Bonifacio Global City that he feels stronger and faster, eager to face Igor Subora (5-1 win-loss card). Vera, who held a 12-7 win-loss record in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), is making his debut in One FC.
“I’m ready for my debut. I will do my best not to disappoint the hometown crowd in my debut. This is important to me,” Vera said.
“I’m stronger and faster now,” added the heavyweight Vera, who has a background in wrestling and muay thai. “I trained hard for this and now the moment has come to fight. I’m ready.”
Julaton after hitting the mitts with trainer Angelo Reyes told reporters that she is ready to bounce back from her previous loss to Walaa Abas Mohamed Kamaly (2-1 record) in the women’s flyweight event.
“It will definitely be a good fight. I’m ready,” said Julaton, who lost her second fight against Ann Osman of Malaysia via split decision in August in Malaysia. “My punches are getting heavier and faster. I also learned a lot from that loss. I’m ready to fight back.”
The other scheduled bouts are between Eduard Folayang and Timofey Nastyukhin, Kevin Belingon and Koetsu Okazaki, Honorio Banario and Herbert Burns, Rene Catalan and Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke, Jujeath Nagaowa and Tharoth Sam as well as the main event bantamweight fight between champion Bibiano Fernandes and challenger Dae Hwan Kim.
