The Philippines won two silver medals courtesy of Dianne Gabriel Panlilio and Char-maine Skye Chua in the 2014 Asian Junior Figure Skating Challenge held at the Festival Walk Glacier in Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong.
Panlilio placed second in the Advanced Pre-Novice Girls category by scoring 60.82 points. She had 37.48 points in free skating and 23.34 points in short program.
Li Angel of China ruled the event after submitting 61.35 points.
On the other hand, Chua got the second silver medal in the Basic Novice Girls event. Chua scored 41.29 on 27.20 in free skating and 14.09 in short program.
Hong Kong’s Hiu Yau Chow claimed the top spot with a total score of 42.25 points.

The young skaters are aiming to follow the footsteps of Michael Christian Martinez, who qualified in the recent Winter Olympic Games held in Sochi, Russia.
Martinez rose to prominence, being the first Filipino figure skater that saw action in a Winter Olympics. He, however, finished 19th overall with a total score of 184.25 (119.44 in free skate and 64.81 in short program).
