• Filipino talent shines at MYOH 2013

Every year, Filipino Havaianaticos don’t miss the much-anticipated Make Your Own Havaianas (MYOH) event to create their limited-edition pairs of flip-flops featuring international collaborations.

This year, however, those who flocked to the Rockwell Tent in Makati City from May 2 to 5 took home a commemorative Havaianas pair featuring the design of Filipino illustrator and artist Dan Matutina.

A first in MYOH’s eight-year history, Matutina’s design carried an imaginative illustration of the galaxy that glows in the dark. The cosmic print is on carbon blue sole.

Havaianas further ignited Filipino’s passion for the Brazilian brand as it also kicked off the You + Havaianas—its biggest design collaboration open to the public.

The best You + Havaianas pair will then be featured as one of 2014 Havaianas collection’s limited pairs.

As always, the four-day MYOH had been graced by its celebrity fans like Michelle Madrigal, Bianca Valerio, Brent Javier, Kat Alano, Lexi Schulze, Alyssa Martinez, Dani, Julia and Claudia Barretto, Megan and Lauren Young, Pia, Maxene and Frank Magalona, Anthony Pangilinan and Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan, Tessa Prieto-Valdez and Giselle Toengi, among others.

The submission of entries for the You + Havaianas contest at youandhavaianas.com is until to June 9.
