The Philippines bagged three bronze medals in the 5th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Schools Games 2013 recently held in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Reigning Palarong Pambansa champion Bryan Pacheco won a bronze medal in the boys’ javelin throw of the athletics competition held at the My Dinh Stadium. Pacheco registered 58.92 meters to secure the third position.

Pham Ngoc Anh of Vietnam ruled the event with a 62.28m showing while Piyasiri Intaprasong of Thailand grabbed the silver medal with 59.99m.

Pacheco failed to sustain his momentum as he finished sixth overall in the boys’ shot put category (16.68m).

The other bronze medals were from girls’ basketball and boys’ volleyball. The girls’ basketball team members are Je-anne Carmelo, Ria Nabalan, Mary Moslares, Joy Inocencio, Jolina Go, Wichell Kho, Marielle Lamar, Pamela Payac, Maria Pesquera, Gianna de Leon, Patricia Reyes and Nicole Cancio while the boys’ volleyball team is composed of Kit Canobas, John Rivera, Derick Delizo, Joshua Diaz, Levin Dimayoga, Reneil Roxas, Jopet Movido, Nikko Ortega, Ulyross Lopez, Mark Petancio, Jerald de Castro and Gil Magadia.

Overall, the Philippines ended up dead last with 0-0-3 showing in the eight-nation meet. Vietnam claimed the overall title with 50-27-23 followed by Malaysia (25-30-30), Thailand (24-31-33), Indonesia (18-27-27), Singapore (8-5-15), Laos (0-3-5) and Brunei (0-2-8).
