Nabunturan International Film Exhibition (Nabifilmex) 2015, an annual open-air film festival event in Nabunturan, Compostella Valley, opens a non-competing section for international filmmakers who wish to showcase their films to Filipino audience.
According to the Nabunturan Tourism Office, Nabifilmex is part of Compostella Valley’s “quest to place Nabunturan in the national roadmap as a primary tourist destination in the Davao Region.”
Aside from the international film exhibit, Nabifilmex have also announced the official call for entries in the Open Category for films and documentaries that communicate and express Compostella Valley’s local stories, culture, icons, pride of place and sense of nationhood. Winning entries are entitled to cash prizes and the chance to be conferred the Gimadyawan Award (Best Picture) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts’ (NCCA) Sulyap Kultura Award.
Special sections are also opened to students enrolled in public and private school in Region 11 and to DepEd Compostella Valley teachers who took part in the Sine Indie Film Workshop last April. Entries in the Student and DepEd Compostella Valley sections are also eligible to compete for the Open Category.
Nabifilmex started in 2013 and is part of the clusters of regional film festivals with grants under the NCCA National Committee on Cinema.
