• FilOil Cup action continues today

De La Salle University (DLSU) and defending champions San Beda College (SBC) will battle separate foes in Group B today in the 2016 FilOil Flying V Pre-season Premier Cup at the San Juan Arena.

La Salle, currently holding a pristine record of five wins, will face the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) at 3:15 p.m.

After beating rival Ateneo de Manila University in their last outing, the Green Archers are keen on extending their winning run when they clash against the Pirates.

Veteran Jeron Teng is expected to lead his squad to their sixth-straight win together with prolific scorer rookie Ben Mbala.

During DLSU’s rout of the Blue Eagle, Teng and Mbala had a combined output of 52 points on the field plus 20 rebounds.

Lyceum is expected to give La Salle a tough time as they continue their hunt for a second win in the pre-season tourney.

Meanwhile, titleholders San Beda will bank on their young players as they face fourth seeded Adamson University at 1:30 p.m.

In their previous game, the Red Lions notched their fourth win at the expense of Colegio de San Juan Letran, 84-70.

Sophomore JV Mocon led the Mendiola-based brigade in their rout of the Knights with the support of freshman Wil- liam Navarro.

The Soaring Falcons will rely anew on center Cherif Papi Sarr in their battle against the Bedans.

The Blue Eagles are scheduled to meet the Mapua Institute of Technology at 5 p.m. while the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons will clash with the National University Bulldogs at 11:15 a.m.
