Philippine Swimming League (PSL) Swimmers of the Year Sean Terence Zamora and Kyla Soguilon have been selected as the newest ambassadors in the Philippines of the American swimming brand Finis.

The good news was recently relayed by Finis-Philippines representative Vince Garcia to Zamora and Soguilon along with PSL President Susan Papa and Secretary General Maria Susan Benasa.

The University of Santo Tomas incoming Grade 10 student Zamora and Sun Yat Sen-Aklan standout So-guilon were chosen based on their impressive show-ing in international competitions for the past year.

As part of ambassadorship, they will be receiving Vapor Tech Suit – the finest technical suit in the company’s history made with premium Italian fabric and hydrophobic design considered as a major breakthrough in the Finis line of performance swimwear. The cost of a female suit is 400 euros (P20,000) while a male suit costs 312 euros (P15,000).

“It is a tremendous honor that two PSL swimmers are chosen as ambassadors of goodwill by Finis. They both performed magnificently in year 2014 and their momentum in the start of 2015 is as magnificent,” said PSL President Susan Papa.

“PSL is strengthening our grassroots developmental and committed to democratize swimming and further expanding our network in the country,” she added.

Zamora and Soguilon led the country’s sterling 41-gold, 12-silver, nine-bronze showing in the 2015 Indian Ocean All Stars Challenge held in Perth Australia recently. Zamora bagged a total of 10 gold medals in the boys’ 14 years while Soguilon went home with seven golds and three silvers in the girls 10 years. They both won the Most Outstanding Swimmer awards in their respective age groups.

“Recently, we found swimmers practicing by the river and had won in Aklan swimming competition where PSL waived their participation fee. You will be amaze and surprise what PSL has to offer,” said Benasa.

Finis has been supporting the campaign of Olympic gold medalists Anthony Ervin of US and Bill Kirby of Australia, among others. It is working on a tagline “we seek to improve the world of swimming through technical innovation, high quality products and a commitment to education.”

Zamora and Soguilon are aiming to continue their impressive campaigns when they compete in the 2015 Hong Kong Stingrays Swimming Championship in May along with six other swimmers.

Joining them in Hong Kong meet are Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh of Immaculate Heart of Mary College-Parañaque (girls’ 8 years), Stephen Guzman of Meridian International Learning School (boys’ 10 years), Charize Juliana Esmero of University of the Philippines Integrated School (girls’ 12 years), Royal Bangkok Swim Meet veteran Roger Giron (boys’ 15 years), and Singapore Swimming Championships medalists Marie Joe Borres (girls’ 10 years) and Alic Deniel Dela Cruz (girls’ 15 years).

The PSL is the national sports swimming association for universities and colleges accredited by the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines—an internationally affiliated member of Federation of International Sports University (FISU).
