BAGUIO CITY: Heavy rains and strong winds did not stop the fire that gutted the three-storey building of the University of Baguio Preparatory High School over the weekend. Bealted reports from Baguio Fire Marshal Joe Fernand Bangyod said firemen arrived around 11:55 a.m. only to find out that the entire third floor of the building had been razed. Bangyod said that his men only managed to control the fire at around 1:50 p.m. Two people were injured in the fire identified as Cesar Badecao, a physical education instructor who sustained second degree burns and security marshal Frederick Chaloy, who was suffocated as smoke billowed out of the building during the fire. The victims were rushed at the nearby Saint Louis University Hospital and are still undergoing treatment. Bangyod said they are still investigating the origin of the fire that started at the third floor of the building. The structure was being used for martial arts trainings of athletes, according to UB vice president for Institutional Development Miller Peckley.

    1. It’s heatbreaking seeing the building that polished and loved me and my batchmates (2012-2013) turned into ashes.. and also hearing about what happened to one of our favorite teacher, Mr. Cesar Badicao.

This is the second time that it happened to that building. After a very long time of being un-used because of the first fire, then used again by the Criminology Students, we’re the first batch in UB-Preparatory High to use it again. Now, it’s abandoned for once again..

The school is celebrating its 66th anniversary this month. I hope things will be better before the said celebration.
