Fire hits BFAR office in QC


A fire hit an office of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture Division (BFAR-IFAD) on the second floor of the eight-story Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) building along Elliptical Road in Quezon City early Monday morning. A fire officer and a volunteer were injured while battling the blaze that broke out around 2:30 a.m. The victims were identified as Fire Officer 1 Vincent de Vera of Project 6 Station, who sustained a cut on his right hand, and Elnardo Obrenida, fire volunteer from Galas Station, who sustained a laceration on his right hand’s thumb. The fire reached the third alarm before it was put under control around 4:07 a.m. and put out at 4:12 a.m. Arson investigators are yet to determine the cause of fire. Damage to property was placed at P200,000.
