Fire destroyed about 40 houses in Dagupan, Tondo, Manila at dawn Wednesday, leaving at least 80 families homeless.
The blaze reached fourth alarm before it was contained.
SFO John Joseph Jalique of the Manila Fire District said initial investigation showed that
the fire was probably caused by an illegal electric connection.
“It’s possible that an illegal jumper was the cause of the fire; jumpers are dangerous as they easily get overloaded,” said Jalique.
He placed the damage at P1 million. No one was reportedly injured.
