• First Philippine Literary Festival this month


    The country’s first Philippine Literary Festival features iconic literary personalities such as Bienvenido Lumbera, Ricky Lee, Jun Cruz Reyes, Lourde De Veyra, Noreen Capili, Edgar Samar, Sarge Lacuesta, and Dean Alfar, among other Anvil Publishing talents, is slated on October 23 to 25 at the Raffles Hotel, in Makati City.

    In partnership with National Bookstore, the highlight of the festival is a talk by best-selling Asian American writer Amy Tan and award-winning novelist Chang Rae Lee.

    Readers can enjoy free admissions on book talks and panels discussions which will be held in the specified dates from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will also be sessions for librarians, titled “Speculative Fiction: Why Libraries Must Have Them” with Dean Alfar. Meanwhile, National Artist Bienvenido Lumera will discuss on “How Pop Can Literature Be?”

    For aspiring playwrights, renowned script writer Ricky Lee will talk on “Pagsipat ng Mambabasa,” together with other writers such as De Veyra, Reyes. For Literature teachers,
    “Pagtuturo ng Nobela Ko” by Edgar Samar and Allan Derain willl be of use. “Writing the Confessional” by Beverly Siy, Noreen Capili and Genaro Gojo Cruz will also be an interesting topic to be discussed.

    Students and booklovers are welcome to attend all sessions.
