Five arrested in Cordillera for illegal possession of weapons and mineral ore


LA TRINIDAD, Benguet: Authorities in Cordillera nabbed three men for illegal possession of firearms and two more illegally transporting mineral ores. Joint efforts by elements of the Abra and Regional Intelligence, Provincial Public Safety Company, Special Action Force and San Juan Municipal Police Station (MPS) led to the capture of Nestor Bergonia, Joel Bergonia alias Owek and Freddie Bergonia alias Piding—all residents Sitio Galoos, Barangay Supiil, San Juan, Abra—who were in possession of various weapons. In Benguet province, police intercepted a vehicle carrying 180 sacks of ores and arrested driver Randy Toyoken Daluyen, 35, from Bangaan, Sagada, Mountain Province and his helper Leonil Antonio Mokyat, 28, a resident of Philex Mines in Padcal, Tuba. The ores came from Fidilisan (Pidlisan), Sagada, Mountain Province and was intercepted on July 28 in Abatan, Buguias.
