La Trinidad, Benguet: Five alleged shabu addicts were caught inside a drug den in Tabuk City, Kalinga province’s capital town in a raid ordered by a local court Monday. Now facing illegal drug charges are Jeffrey Dominguez Danipog, 32; Bam Macad Peter, 30; Luis Paclay Appag, 54; Ricky Paclay Bayog, 24; and Jefferson Foken Sal-ao, 32. Seized from the five were one sealed plastic cellophane containing suspected shabu weighing about 500 grams, a small plastic bottle containing a brownish sticky substance suspected to be marijuana derivatives, a small plastic sachet containing brownish powder suspected to be marijuana hashes, and two small heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu. Judge Victor Dalanao of the Municipal Trial Courts in Cities ordered the Tabuk police authorities to raid the alleged drug den at sitio Ileb, Nambaran, Tabuk City and arrest Bong Addawi alias Hongti/Bongtay, who was able to flee. In Abra, another raid yielded Santos Castañeda alias Antos right in his home in Brgy. Anget, Lagangilang town. Three open plastic sachets containing suspected shabu residue, 19 heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, an aluminum foil, six assorted open plastic sachets, and cash amounting to P60,000 were seized from Castañeda. In a simultaneous raid at the home of Bryan “Bodik” Paino, policemen seized seven open plastic sachets containing suspected shabu residue, four assorted lighters, and one crumpled aluminum foil. Also, two young males were caught in the act of allegedly using illegal drugs at a waiting shed along the highway in Bangcagan, Bucay town also in Abra. One stick pulverized marijuana, one lighter, and a cylinder glass tube were seized from them. Cordillera Police Director Isagani Nerez said the recent arrests only showed that the police still has a lot of work to do.
