• FLAT HOLDS NO FEARS FOR PINOT

    0

Tuesday’s stage from Saint-Gildas-des-Bois to Saint-Malo was the first of several mainly flat stages as the peloton prepares to cut diagonally from north-western France to the Alps, and was welcomed en masse by the sprinters and French climbing specialist Thibaut Pinot. He had a great debut in 2012 when he won a stage in the Alps and finished 10th overall but Pinot recently revealed he is petrified of the speedy descents. Those fears, and some slow riding to the finish of stage nine on Sunday, have left his overall hopes in tatters and he said: “To be honest, all I want to do is pack my bags and go home.”
